Presale For Buttonbush Starter Plant Ships 5/01/2020
Latin name: Cephalanthus occidentalis
Family: Rubiaceae (Madder Family)
Buttonbush was often employed medicinally by native North American Indigenous tribes who used it to treat a range of ailments. It is not used in modern new age herbalism. But it is one of my favorites to make a tea and make a facial astringent, emetic, febrifuge and it is also tonic. It the roots, or the fruits have been used as a laxative to treat constipation. The leaves are astringent, diaphoretic, diuretic, and tonic. Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) is a 4-season native shrub that adapts easily to gardens and attracts bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects.
